Internet Web Site Guidelines and Policy
Introduction
These guidelines are meant to govern the use of the internet web site
established by the Kalamazoo County Democratic Party. The aims of this web site are as follows:
- To help keep members informed about party activities including events
and volunteer activities.
- To provide a forum for the discussion of issues important to Democrats.
- To provide non-members access to information about the county party and
about membership.
- To provide all users a research tool to find out more about issues important to Democrats.
- To provide a communications tool (i.e. email) for key members of the party.
- To support local, state and national Democratic candidates.
Posting Items on the Web Site
All items posted on the web site must receive prior approval of the web
master or other designee of the county chair. To maintain the integrity of files, all actual uploads should be performed by the web master. In
general, the web site should include information on upcoming events, membership, volunteer activities, donations, candidates, and important
public issues. It should also include links to other web sites that will provide additional information on the party at the state and federal
levels and additional coverage of public issues.
The site should provide an area for individual party members to express their views on public issues. The area so designated on the site should state clearly that the views expressed do not necessarily represent the official views of the county, state or national party. In general, this area should be reserved for party members, though the webmaster and the chair may choose to allow those who are not members of the party to post opinions on occasion as they deem appropriate.
All items posted on the web site should be in good taste. Decisions
regarding all postings shall rest with the webmaster or other designee of the county chair. From time to time the webmaster or designee may
consult with members of the internet web site oversight committee and the chair regarding the appropriateness of postings. The webmaster or
designee reserve the right to edit all submissions for style, clarity and length.
Appeals
Only members of the county party may appeal decisions made by the webmaster
or designee of the chair concerning the content of the website. Any appeal will be put before a three- member internet website oversight
committee. The committee shall be appointed by the county chair and serve at the discretion of the chair. The oversight committee may
communicate its rulings orally or in writing. The party member who is appealing a decision may request that any ruling by the committee be put
into writing. All decisions of the oversight committee are final.
Email Accounts
As space and the internet connection service allows, the webmaster will
provide email accounts to key people in the party in consultation with the county chair.
